Over sixty years ago, M & W Mack Ltd began trading with E Martinavarro SA. Both
companies were leaders in their markets – Mack with its network of wholesale outlets
and Martinavarro as a key name in citrus supply. The businesses grew and the relationship
flourished – an informal partnership was created on the strength of a lot of trust
and a handshake.
This continued until 2007, by which time Mack had built up a citrus business with
some £45 million of sales, and Martinavarro had become one of the largest suppliers
of fresh citrus in Europe. It was decided to formalise the handshake relationship
and constitute a new business – Mack Martinavarro Global Citrus Limited (MMG Citrus).
Ownership of the business is split equally between Fresca Group (parent company
to Mack) and Martinavarro.
